Subject: KmotionCNC and Logitech game controller
Hello,
I am fairly new to CNC and have a Dynomotion equipped machine.  I have wiped out two edge finders trying to nudge the edge finder from the keyboard.  I got the Logitech game controller to get my face closer to the action.  So far I can't get it to work.  I feel like I'm missing something obvious.  I looked in the KmotionCNC "tool setup" button and can't find anything that refers to a game controller.
In the Logitech configuration panel I directed the game controller to the Kmotioncnc.exe file.  I also tried Logitech's keyboard assignment for the X-axis.  I also pressed the "keyboard jog" button on the KmotionCNC interface.  These actions did not produce any movement w the game controller, although the computer's keyboard arrow keys do move the CNC's head.
     Thanks in advance.  Mark

Hi, have you tried using the steps? You can set the step size so every time you press the arrow it moves only by the step size. So you can jog till about 5mm from the edge and then use the steps to get the finder to touch.

The step buttons are the square dots on the screen next to the arrows. I found that the standard screen layout is not practical as you can easily press an arrow if you are not careful. So I am using a touch screen and I have re-designed the layout so the step buttons are now 4 separate large buttons away from the arrows. This works well as I can press them while looking at the edge finder without worrying about pressing an arrow by accident.

I have not checked but I am sure there are keyboard buttons for stepping too.

I just checked. I you hold the CNTRL key, then the keyboard arrow keys will be in STEP mode.

Hi Mark,

There is a Enable Gamepad option in the Tool Setup Trajectory Planner page.  Is that checked?

Does the Windows Applet in Control-Panel Devices and Printers show that it is working?

Is there more than one device on your system?  The Gamepad must be #1

Regards

Ctrl-Arrow or Ctrl-Page up/dn should perform a step of the selected size.

Thanks to all.  Tom had what I was looking for.  The check box on the Tool Setup>trajectory page was not checked.
This is a very helpful group.
